With a modular set, industry-standard equipment and an experienced production crew, every aspect can be tailored to the client and their audience.
At The Hundred Hands HQ, we’ve been busy building our own podcast studio, which we’re proud to say is finally complete.
Located within our 1,000 sq ft unit in Plymouth, the studio gives us a dedicated space for producing custom-designed podcasts and videocasts for businesses, charities and other organisations.
We wanted to create an adaptable production space that we could control completely, rather than repeatedly building temporary sets or trying to fit productions into existing locations.
We constructed the studio ourselves using scaffold, custom-built walls and movable flats. Our founder and creative director, Drew, designed the space, drawing on his filmmaking degree and experience designing sets for short films.

Although the current set uses a neutral combination of white walls, natural wood and comfortable furniture, it is not intended to remain fixed.
Everything is mounted on wheels or designed to be moved. The walls can be repainted, coverings can be added and the artwork, chairs and table can all be replaced. Our mounting systems allow branded graphics, screens, practical lighting and other layers to be introduced without rebuilding the entire studio.
This means the space can retain the quality and comfort of a permanent set while being redesigned around each client, subject and audience.

A standard recording is supported by a three-person crew consisting of a director, camera operator and sound engineer. We can manage the production from initial planning and set preparation through to filming, sound recording and post-production.
This allows us to work with organisations that want to create a custom podcast but do not necessarily have an internal production team or a fully developed format. We can help shape how the programme should look, sound and work for its intended audience.
The studio has already been used to record The Hundred Hands Podcast and work for Fostering South West. It will also become the home of the Marine Autonomy Podcast, with further original and client-led series currently in development.
We’ve designed a space that defines our approach as a creative storytelling studio: client-focused, adaptable and collaborative. We’re incredibly proud of the work that has gone into building it and look forward to welcoming more collaborators inside.
