Intro

We Tell Your Story is a documentary series funded by the Plymouth Octopus Project, culminating in a major feature that premiered at Plymouth Arts Cinema on June 17, 2024. Directed by Drew Graves and produced by The Hundred Hands, the series was designed to highlight Plymouth’s vibrant community stories.

Objective

The project set out to elevate the profiles of local organisations through high-quality video formats, enabling them to reach new audiences. Beyond the films themselves, it functioned as a community interest campaign, strengthening the voluntary and community sector and showcasing the work of local charities and communities.

Challenge

The production spanned two years and involved numerous local creators, from filmmakers to animators. Coordinating a large-scale community project of this kind required working with over 70 interviewees, balancing diverse perspectives, and ensuring each story was captured authentically.

Result

The final output included a 36-minute feature documentary alongside a series of individual films, all dedicated to amplifying Plymouth’s community voices. The project not only provided organisations with powerful storytelling tools but also connected them with wider audiences. The major film premiered to a packed audience at Plymouth Arts Cinema, celebrating the city’s inspiring community stories.
